In the summer 2016 I retired from a 33 year career as the director of the VNAs of Vermont, the trade association that represents the Visiting Nurse Associations in Vermont. Prior to working for the VNAs, I worked with adults with autism for Washington County Mental Health, was a reporter for the Time Argus in Barre, Vermont and the Black River Tribune in , administered a grant for the Black River Health Center in Proctorsville, Vermont and was a lobbyist for the Vermont Public Interest Research Group (VPIRG). In retirement, I work part-time for the Time Argus and Rutland Herald. As a student at the University of Vermont I was one of the founding members of VPIRG.
A few days a month I volunteer as a driver for the Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually impaired, I also volunteer as a teacher for Central Vermont Adult Basic Education and assists with the community breakfasts at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Barre, Vermont. (Currently all are on hold due to the pandemic.)
Nearly 50 years ago Cindy Clement and I were married in Burlington, Vermont. We made our home and raised our kids in Barre. Cindy is retired now, but was the director of the Respiratory Department and the cardiac lab at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin, Vermont. I have two daughters and seven grandchildren.
For 25 years I coached middle school soccer; 16 years with girls’ teams and nine seasons with the boys’ team. I also ran the Central Vermont Men’s soccer league for 15 years.
Currently, my hobbies include hiking, skiing, kayaking, photography (check out my gallery) reading and writing.
